Sausage meet

These record breakers almost bit off more than they could chew when they set their sights on producing the world's longest sausage.

The Spanish chorizo makers began to run out of filling before they reached their target of a 1,019 metres long banger.

But a team of a dozen butchers in Puertollano in southern Spain worked round the clock to prepare more stuffing for the final 100 metres cheered on by hundreds of well wishers.

"It was touch and go for a while but we made it. We even sponsored every centimetre for the victims of the Haiti earthquake," said one official.
