Heir apparent

A fraudster who claimed to be a British aristocrat's heir has been arrested after conning more than 700,000 GBP out of wealthy women in Spain.

The love cheat wooed his victims with tales of rubbing shoulders with Prince William and British high society before tricking them into handing over cash to pay bogus legal fees and death duties so he could inherit his title.

His three year con crumbled when one victim turned detective and discovered he was really a 47-year-old ex convict who had never even been to Britain.

Police in Bilbao said the man is now facing up to seven years in jail for fraud.
