Leg it

A wife who murdered her husband and cut up his body with a saw was caught when she left a leg in the back of the car after driving to a remote woodland spot to bury the corpse.

Methodical Heike Strassman, 34, clubbed husband Thomas, 46, to death as he slept on the sofa and then cut up his body in the garage putting each part in a bin liner for burial, a court in Berlin, Germany heard.

She claimed she'd been driven to murder by her policeman husband's violence and feared what he would do to her if she asked for a divorce.

But in her haste to get back to their children Strassman left one of his legs on the back seat and was arrested the next day when she tried to bury it in broad daylight.

"I panicked and I made a mistake," she told the court.
