Two-headed baby op

Surgeons have begun a series of operations to remove one of the heads of a two-headed baby born in Tangyin, central China.

Two month old Jin Lo was abandoned by his parents shortly after his birth and is now in the care of a medical team who have decided the smaller head can be removed safely.

The second head - which has faint, poorly formed facial features - will undergo one op to divert fluids from its brain and then a second procedure to remove the head altogether.

"It will be very complicated but we're confident that without the operations this child's quality of life in the future will be very poor indeed," said Dr Qi Xiang for Anyang Women and Children Hospital.
