Vienna residents do not need to leave the city to go skiing as the Hohe Wand slope opened for business yesterday (Sun).
Lifts are in operation daily from 9am to 9pm, city officials announced, adding night-time skiing was possible as the piste was equipped with floodlights.
Ticket prices start at 4.50 Euros, while children aged six or younger go skiing for free.
The slope is located at Mauerbachstraße 174 in Vienna-Penzing. See www.hohewandwiese.at for more information.
Meanwhile snow cannons have also begun operating at a hill in the heart of the city’s Prater Park in Vienna-Leopoldstadt where children can toboggan for free.
Around eight centimetres of snow fell in Vienna on Saturday, and the current cold temperatures mean good conditions for skiing and tobogganing, but snow cannons are an essential support for organisers to create optimal conditions.
