Burgenland police track down Hungarian thieves

By David Rogers

An international crime gang behind a string of break-ins have been arrested after a joint operation with Hungarian cops, Burgenland police announced yesterday (Thurs).

They said they had arrested four Hungarian men aged 24 to 36 who had been involved in a series of robberies in Oberpullendorf district in June and July.

The added colleagues in Köszeg, Hungary had helped them track the gang down.

Some of the thieves loot, which consisted mostly of garden devices and electronic tools, had been confiscated in Hungary and returned to its rightful owners.

The gang had also been responsible for a number of crimes in Hungary, Burgenland police added.

They put the amount of damage caused by the gang in Austria at 30,000 Euros.
