Jilted hubby turns sniper

A teacher has been arrested with a high powered hunting rifle, knife and large brick which he planned to use to teach a love rival a lesson about the dangers of sleeping with another man's wife.

When secondary school teacher Leonardo Mazzanti found steamy messages on wife Francesca's phone he pretended to be her and arranged a meeting with her lover at a deserted car park in Saluggia, northern Italy.

But David Sal grew suspicious when he got a second message telling him to wear a red tie and called police.

Two officers who turned up at the location spotted high school teacher Mazzanti hiding in the bushes and arrested him together with a long-distance sniper rifle, hunting knife and brick.

He was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
