Handicapped woman caught in door of U-bahn train

A handicapped woman had to undergo emergency surgery after her walking frame got stuck in the closing doors of an underground train and dragged her along the platform as it sped down the track.

The 60-year-old was only saved from crashing into the wall at the end of the platform as the train went into the tunnel when a passenger spotted her and pushed the emergency stop button.

Doctors who operated on her said she suffered severe injuries including a broken pelvis and other bones, in the incident at the U4 Kettenbrückengasse underground station yesterday (Thurs) afternoon.
