CSI star stalker said she could go on a killing spree - 15 years ago

By Thomas Hochwarter

The deranged woman who sent harrowing letters to US actor David Caruso was sentenced for threatening her ex-lover, it emerged yesterday (Thurs).

Innsbruck prosecutors confirmed that Heidemarie Schnitzer had not just been warned over the threats back then, as it had been initially reported, but had also been sentenced.

The Austrian Times understands that the 42-year-old was sentenced for threatening her ex-boyfriend in the 1990s. Asked by her lawyer why she had done so, Schnitzer said: "Come on, that happened 15 years ago!"

Back then, a psychiatric expert changed the already-existing diagnosis of "borderline syndrome" to "multiple-personality disorder" – the same result court psychiatrist Karin Treichl’s report contained this week.

It was also revealed that Schnitzer had told her former lawyer she was "able" to act out a killing spree "anytime".

Schnitzer was given a seven-month sentence on Tuesday, and the court also ruled she would be put into an institution for mentally-deranged delinquents afterwards.

"The seven months are okay with me, but that I will be sent to such an institution is a real shock," Schnitzer told TV teams before officers guided her to her cell.

Schnitzer’s story dominated the news for months. The family mother failed to turn up for two trials last year and fled to the US instead. From there, she travelled to Mexico, where she was finally arrested.

Despite that fans of the TV hit "CSI: Miami" successfully tracked her due to the   fingerprint Schnitzer left whenever she went online to threaten Hollywood star David Caruso, her arrest happened rather coincidentally during a random traffic check outside the Mexican city of Tijuana. Cops noticed Schnitzer’s visa had expired, only later to find out there was an international warrant for her arrest for stalking.
