Swan upmanship
It was a lesson in swan upmanship that paralysed an entire airport when this stray flyer gave runway staff the bird in Bern, Switzerland.
After winging it for an emergency landing, the stubborn swan wandered up and down the runways resisting attempts by airport staff to make it fly on.
Officials say hundreds of passengers were delayed until workers finally persuaded the swan to continue its migration south.
"He wasn't going anywhere unless it was in his own time so there was nothing we could do except shut down the runways until he left," said one ground crew worker.
