Sinking feeling

A stubborn driver sunk up to his axels in quick drying concrete after ignoring road closed warnings to take a short cut.

The red Citroen disappeared deep into the freshly laid road before workers could stop the motorist in Wallisellen, Switzerland.

Rescue workers had to chip the car free using drills and pick axes after carrying the owner to safety.

Building site boss Giuseppe Forcinitin said: "Luckily he got out OK but he must be feeling pretty foolish."
