A group of networking business people aiming to promote enterprise in Austria have scored their first success after the launch of a new monthly meeting that brings entrepreneurs and investors together.
The meeting - called ‘First Tuesday’ because it is held on the first Tuesday of each month - sees a group of enterprising business men meet to review and discuss new business ideas with a view for long term financial investment. The theme of the meetings is ‘Ideas meet Money’ and they give an opportunity for business innovators and entrepreneurs to meet possible investors.
Organised by Nigel Stonham, founder of ‘First Tuesday Vienna’ and ‘Vienna Hub’, the monthly meetings take place in a variety of informal venues located in the centre of Austria’s capital city Vienna and the aim is to bring together people possessing good, ground breaking ideas with would-be investors.
The first meeting has already been held and those who were there have said they have already benefitted.
Vienna based entrepreneur Markus Hochholdinger who is launching a software tool called ‘Allsite’ said of the meeting: "I joined the First Tuesday event because I am always looking for contacts who are interested in this kind of product, either because they want it for themselves - potential customers - or because they want to help us to spread the product on the market. Customers, resellers, VCs and business angels are the kind of contacts we are interested in.
"In this respect, the event was helpful. I made the first contact to a VC (Pontis), I met a marketing professional with international experience (Ramin Ramezani) and met some other very interesting people like Deborah Walker with whom I would like to stay in contact."
The meeting on the 5th of November which was held in Café Prückel, was well attended with 39 participants all benefiting from the knowledge, experience and insight of the guest speakers at the event, which inlcuded:

The speakers were very well received and gave the group insight in their specific areas. Following the individual presentations guests were able to speak directly to each speaker during a revolving workshop. In separate discussions with each speaker they all strongly supported Nigel Stonham’s thoughts that "more should be done in Vienna, and Austria as a whole, to present good business concepts to those looking for potentially worthwhile, profitable and long term investments."
Stonham is an energetic individual specialising in corporate networking - putting people with creative business concepts in front of senior management, executives or entrepreneurs who are in search of fresh, creative innovation or have the need for specialised services in business management, i.e. marketing, sales, motivational training, business psychology etc. etc. Nigel is the man!
He said: "Being the founder of First Tuesday Vienna it is my aim to encourage and develop this concept in Vienna, and indeed throughout Austria, in order to help entrepreneurs find money for their ideas, and to connect them to others who can help them succeed. I am one of a number of people interested in helping to stimulate innovation and creativity, as well as entrepreneurship, in Austria, and I plan to do that locally through First Tuesday Vienna, and internationally through the First Tuesday global network."
First Tuesday Vienna is part of a global network of like minded people organising business and networking meetings in other major cities of the world: Vienna, London, Zurich, Luxembourg and Johannesburg.
